Description
Matthieu pliers are a universal plier used for many different tasks like placement of O-rings, manipulating wires, remove and placement of wires, and more. Essential in your armamentarium.
They are designed to have a long, narrow beak that tapers to a point, and have a locking mechanism that allows the user to grip and hold objects securely without need to apply holding pressure.
To use Mathieu pliers, follow these general steps: Grasp the instrument with your dominant hand, using your thumb and fingers to control the opening and closing of the beaks. Position the pliers around the object you wish to grip, such as a ligature tie, O-ring or arch-wire. Close the beaks of the pliers around the object by squeezing your fingers together allowing it to lock into position. Release the object by opening the beaks of the pliers using your thumb and fingers.
